Top End Rebuild Feedback. Several, no a bunch... (archive)

of you good folks asked me a whole bunch of questions about my top end rebuild via e-mail. Thanks for the very thoughtful compliments. As I said, it was a lot of work, but my son and I did it right and enjoyed the whole exercise. It woudl take me a month of Sundays to answer all of the e-mails, so what I'd like to do is compile your list of questions and then answer them all at once. I'll do a write-up on what, when, where, how and how much so that we can commit the effort to the board collective memory. Hope that works for everyone.

BTW, in a much younger life (& many years ago), I was a heavy equipment mechanic for a while, but I don't pretend to be a professional now. So, some of you guys who do this stuff for a living are welcome to critique up a storm and it won't hurt my feelings. Nuff said!
