I have bought two wheels so far, which have a centre-bore of 74.1mm. I am aware I will have to reduce this to 72.5mm using rings , which should have came with the wheels, but did not (sorting this out with retailer). The problem here is if the spacer is just a thin ring, then in my opinion the hub that the wheel sits on does not protrude far enough for the ring to be effective - I have offered the wheel to the hub, and it confirms this. Are there such things as rings of greater width?
Another problem, is at the back, I intend using the same style of wheel, but for e36/46 fitment. This is so I can adapt the 38mm offset into a 28 or 30mm offset using hub-centric spacers, so there should be no clearance problems with the fenders. In addition to this, the centre-bore diameter (hopefully) should be exactly the same as the e28 (I will check). If they happen to be 74.1mm, however, are there such things as spacers which fit a 72.5mm hub centrically, but offer a 74.1mm lip?
As ever, many thanks,
Philip
Phillip; those little rings,if installed on the car's hub,NOT in the wheel, will indeed center the wheel perfectly.Just ask my car. And,yes,I can order you a hub-centic spacer kit from H&R at a discounted "board" price, that will work properly.
I also have for sale two sets of used 17x8.5" wheels,(proper hub size)one with tires, that already have the appropriate spacer kits available,if necessary, with them.
I use this system on my own car; check out website www.ontrackimages.com/gilbert
Those wheels/tires are for sale as well.
