You need a skinny box wrench - like the one that comes in the Bimmer tool kit in your trunk. On my 84 533i The bottom bolt is not too hard to reach, I moved the coolant overflow tank to gain arm room. The top one however is another story! On my car I was able to reach that one thru the top of the engine right up against the firewall.

I believe the Bentley recommends one of those half moon shaped wrenches for the top bolt.
