the shifter shaft disassembled. That assembly #1 is available as one whole unit from BMW under P/N 25 11 1 220 227.

The other parts you need are from the other drawing showing the shift console and attachment parts.

You need the following items.

Item 4 - Supporting Bracket 2 each
Item 6 - Washer this is a felt washer that takes out slop in the gear selector joint/gear selector shaft interface.
Item 9 - Gear selector joint
Item 15 - Stop Buffer
Item 18 - Sound Absorber - optional only if tornup
Item 19 - Ball Cup Lower
Thanks to a diagram emailed to me by Rich in Houston, i have begun the process of finding what parts i need exactly. I have a 1985 (sheet metal) style shifer and so far have diagnosed nearly every part as needing replacement.

The most absolute necessary are the shift lever, Item 4, Item 15, Item 9, and Item 6 if you replace Item 9

This is six items. Item 9 and the shift lever will be the most costly items to replace. I have a used shift lever you can have for S/H. The other parts you should buy new from the dealership.

Send me an email with your shipping address.

Rich

My car has a "do only necessary to the keeping the car running" life left. It only has 192k miles. Thus, i am looking for either a cheap place to buy all 32 parts of the pre-86 shifer, used parts for it, or a combination of the two.

If anyone on the board is parting out a pre 86 528e or 524td with a functioning shifting unit, email me and we can work out a deal.

DREW
