In fact, Dexcool is one of the ones I have heard many times NOT to use, for various reasons.
The chemistry gets very complicated, all the coolants seem to have somewhat different chemistry.
Some say it matters, some say it doesn't matter. I don't know who is right or wrong.
I say avoid the debate altogether, spend a few extra dollars every 2 years and be guaranteed you are using the right stuff by just using BMW coolant.

I have been using Peak for the entire ownership, says it is safe for all metals, but noticed it has Phosphates in it which the book says is a no no.
