I have tried several including Chevron, STP, Castrol and not reasly did anything noticible. But Amsoil and Redline both make intake cleaners that smoothed out my idle and eliminated any surging or hesitation during acceleration. I also had an unrelated problem with my car cutting out at idle. I solved mine by cleaning the ignition wire that connected to the starter soliniod.


Is there a recommended engine cleaner that is recommended for use when I fill up my car with gas. I have this problem where are slow speeds 5 - 10 , or even in idle, the car engine just shuts off completely. In order to start it I must stop the car and turn the key again. It started happending a couple of months ago but went away when my mechanic put engine cleaner in my gas tank.
Any suggestions on an engine cleaner or why the engine may be stopping like that? It is quite scary when driving. I thought maybe that the injectors might be clogged and some engine cleaner would help. The car is an 1988 535i/is.

Any suggestion are welcome.
