This is quick and dirty, and reversible. I used a Spillmaster Junior, which I think I got at Autozone for $3. I drilled a mounting hole about halfway up the non adjustable side, popped out the block off plug opposite the fader control, and used an 1/8" screw and drywall expanding nut thingy to grab the back of the panel. Some of the weight is supported by the lip it sits on, some is supported by the screw. It works fine for me. Watch out on shifting into 5th though, I've caught my knuckle on the edge of it once or twice. And if you want to take your cheesy cupholder out when going out on a date, it's a 2 minute deal. Of course, getting that little block off plug back out of the dash requires popping the radio out and pushing it out from the back, so reinstalling the cupholder is a pain.
I suggest using a countersunk screw head, so it doesn't rub on your coffee cup. I also put some loop (as in hook and loop) tape on the cupholder to knock down on the squeaking.
