My '86 535i recently developed a noise that sounds like tread noise from the front right hand tire but I find it unusual and was wondering if it might be a wheel bearing or something else. The noise only changes with changes in rolling speed; not acceleration or deceleration or coasting, not braking. Ideas?? The tires are TRX's (still).

It could be the the wheel bearing. The test about driving in circles and listening for noise change wasn't true in my case. I had just put new tires on all around. I tried moving tires front to back and the noise didn't move. Changed the offending bearing/hub on Sat. and the noise has gone away. Good luck. Marty
