My uncle bought my 86 535i new at Vasek Polak BMW in Hermosa Beach, at my recommendation. I was 20 years old at the time. I bought it from him in 1992 with 55K miles on it (although I use the term "bought" lightly, I did pay something for it, but it was quite a deal).

It now has 126,000 miles on it.

He actually never liked the car. Seats are too hard and the "ride was too rough" for him. His first and last BMW.
