I found that the front drain tubes ended up IN the front sills: the idea presumably was that the water would then drain out through the sill drain holes.
Trouble is - the sills are open to the inside of the car which means that any water in the sills flows neatly into the front footwells.
I carefully pulled my drain tubes back (they are quite tough) and drilled holes to allow the tubes to stick through the bottom of the car. This is not for the faint-hearted and care must be taken not to cut any wiring looms in there !
So my drain tubes now direct the water to the OUTSIDE of the car. Funny as the tubes are EXACTLY the right length for this and even have a taper end suggesting this was the original intention !
Problem of floating floor carpet is now solved (and we have had a lot of rain this winter !).
