Chris, when you say the bottom hose is cold it tells me there is a flow problem t-stat, waterpump, some sort of blockage a remore possibility. To be safe check the aux fan -if it isn't working your car will overheat at idle. There are two thermo switches in the upper right side of radiator one white (low speed) one red ( high speed) disconnect the wires one switch at a time, turn the ignition on and jumper the two wires you should hear the aux fan run. Do the same for the red switch. As someone else suggested check the fan clutch. In my mind, the key to the problem is the cool radiator hose - t-stat & waterpump are my suspects. mike
