well, for free, it does'nt matter what is wrong with it. I say talk to him and get it. When you get it home assess the situation. It would at least be a good way to earn some extra cash by parting it out to needy members of the board. or fix it, drive it a while, then sell it to the next guy. Just an idea.

what can you tell me about the 535i AL are they fast
