Hello there fellow bimmer lovers! Some of you may not know me as I have only posted a few times with some minor inquiries about my 528e. I would like to take time now to introduce myself. My name is Kevin and I live in Flagstaff Arizona. I currently own an 85 528e which is in very nice condition. I bought the car off an old roommate about a year and a half ago for $2500 and at the time had only 144,000 miles on it. I had the tranny (auto) rebuilt three months after i got it. Did the timing belt and water pump as well as all the cooling this last december. And just last friday I had to replace the altinator. There is so much I want to do with this car to keep it going another 180,000 mi. which it has right now. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do to it to maybe give it some boost please let me know, that would be super.
Anyways, as the subject line reads, (Free 85 535i)! I live just 70 miles south of the Grand Canyon, and it is my biggest and most favorite playground. I visit the canyon almost every weekend if possible to go hiking. Today, I and my girlfriend were just coming into the park and we saw this brand new 7 series, not sure what model, just leaving the park. The guy waved and we waved back in a bimmerlovingly manner...hehehe. We parked may car at the trailhead, and proceeded to go about our day deep into the canyon (14 miles RT). Anyhew, when we came out and got to the car, there was a note on my windshield. I thought "Oh shit", I must have gotten a ticket or something. I read it, and the guy said he has seen me at the canyon alot and had seen my car in Flagstaff as well a few times. He went on to say that he could tell I took really good care of my 528, and that if I was interested he has an 85 535i that he would give to me if I wanted it. He did note that it is not running because of an electrical problem. I did not get the chance to hook up with him before we left the park, but he did leave his addy and phone #. My vision into this thing, is that since I know he lives in the residential area inside the park itself, where mostly the "more fortunate" reside, my guess is that he has this brand new BMW 7 series and needs to get the 535i out of his way. What do you all think of this, and as far as the electrical problem goes what should I look for when I do meet him and see the car? That was my wonderful day and tops off my weekend. It all means something, I guess just good Karma coming back to me eh? My girlfriend thinks she will end up with that car, but if it is in good shape and possibly a minor problem, then she`s just gonna have to settle for her Volvo.....LOL.
Thanks for listening and look forward to interacting with you guys more and getting to know you and your cars.

have a great day!

Kevin
