I got a kit from Agla, which I installed myself. It's expensive for what you get, which is like a Wheelskin, but it's customized for your wheel, so it covers the spokes. The instructions were vague. I decided not to follow them and used a stitch I invented. The resulting stitchwork looks like it was done by an amateur (of course), but is funcional and comfortable. The grain of the leather is a very close match for the rest of the steering wheel. I'm happy with the results.

There is more work involved here than with a Wheelskin, and some craft and thought are required on your part. If you want a job that looks like a professional did it, you'd better be that good.

Agla will install it (for $$$) and ship you a loner wheel in the interim. I have noticed that covered wheels sometimes show up on eBay, and sell for about the price of doing it yourself with an Agla kit.

Been enjoying the boneyards here in sunny FLA (on vacation from CNY). I found to leather sport steering wheels, one off an e28, and an m-sport off e30. However the leather is bad. If they could be had cheap, has anyone heard of a steering wheel being fixed? Sorry, I hate those wheelskins lace-on covers, very ugly IMHO.

Thanks,
Aaron Wyatt
