For those of you who might be interested, I've been installing my moonroof in stages. I got the glass in last week, but the old gray velour covering on the original sliding panel was clashing with my lavendar headliner. So, with the help of my good friend Martin K.(another 5er Driver mit MM stroker motor) here in Dallas we replaced the old velour cover today with the original cover from my steel panel covering. It is the PERFECT size and fits very well.

A couple of small tidbits might make it easier to do. You first have to drill out the old rivets on the cover and a 9/64's drill bit is the perfect size to drill these out. REMEMBER the orientation of the pieces you are taking off cause you'll need to put them back on the same way, DUH!

I used 3M Heavy Duty Upholstery Adhesive to stick the covering back on the frame. It is great stuff and I can't recommend anything else. The rivets I used to reattach the covered frame to the hard plastic carrier were 1/8th aluminum rivets. They were a perfect fit. Also, there are two small plastic spacers for the handle that are inside the covering when you take it off. Don't lose these cause they would be easy to overlook.

It also helps to have an incredibly anal friend to help you on this little project. Another set of eyeballs, not to mention discerning eye, is a great help. Thanks Marteen!!

Not much info here, but it may help someone a bit.
