There is a beautiful '88 M5 down the road that I am seriously considering. The finish is basically flawless, the interior is clean, but the car has 118K on it. It seems to need very little work, but the shifter seems kinda sloppy. Are there bushings that wear out, or is this normal. I'm used to a 95 Jetta GLX with a cable shifter, which is kinda notchy. How is the shifter supposed to feel. (OK, noe thats not a tough question, is it? ;)

Thanks,
Marc

it sounds like the bushings are worn out, buy a short shift kit (if it already doesn't have one) or get new delrin bushings. Get the UUC SS kit, I'm pretty happy w/mine.
Cheers,
