I would like to ask the members about a shimmy problem I've recently gained. When I first purchased my car there was no hint of a shimmy. The thrust arm bushings were replaced by the PO along with new springs and struts. The wheel weights, however, were on the outside of the rims. Wanting to improve the apperance I moved them to the inside. This worked well, but I now had a slight shimmy at around 65. A few weeks ago I had my tires balanced and while they were at it, I had them rotated. I now have a noticeable shimmy above 50.
On closer investigation I noticed that the now front rims are bent slightly from I guess pot-hole hits (PO). My question is, are these cars sensitive to slight rim bends, or should balancing take care of it? What about the tire rotation? I know I can switch the tires back to see if it takes care of the problem but I wanted to see what you had to say.
Thanks for your advice!
