Not knowing what kind of car or how old you want, or what's the intended purpose.... My choices for under 10K for a semi-practicle (not necessarily reliable) car.

87-88 535is
87-88 325is or (ix if you need 4wd)
84-89 Porsche 944 or 944 turbo
71-74 Porsche 911 or a good 928
84-85 Audi ur-quattro or if you're lucky a early 90's S4.
88+ Honda CRX

Or older cars....

65-67 MGB
65-72 Alfa GTV
68-73 BMW 2002
60-68 Austin Mini
72-73 Volvo P1800ES

The list goes on, and on....
