After my wife ran over a raised manhole, exploding the oil pan, we (my insurance company and me) paid Otto's BMW in Chadd's Ford PA a total of $1518 for oil pan replacement, oil pump replacement ($200 for parts) and alignment ($99).

$800 installed is probably a fair price. it takes a bit to disconnect a bunch of stuff, lift the engine enough to get the pan out - or pull out the subframe so the pan comes out, and swap.

My dealer want's to charge me $800 for a new oil pan (I am guessing installed). Does that sound about right?
Thanks
Ted
