Just curious and thinking about another car for daily
driver. 2-3 year old 5 series or older M5?

Well, in U.S. specs, there's only the black 88 e28 M5.Another good alternative is the e28 535i/535is.I've used 4 of these cars, and with decent mods they outrun e28 M5's ontrack at BMWCCA driver's schools, with less investment and less upkeep.
Right now I have a one-owner '87 535is Cinnabar Red car, with 120K on it,$2500 of new paint two years ago by the original owner, and with my gearing/suspension/brake/wheel(17x8.5's)/tire changes,I'm only up to $7000 for a car that looks better than new,and runs with M5's.
A nice '88 M5 should run $12/17K,depending.
