The parts CD shows it's the same part. The 533i oil pan doesn't have the baffles inside like the 535/M5 pan. Part number is 11 13 1 278 878, gasket is 11 13 1 315 085, o-ring for level sensor is 12 61 1 277 129. You'll have to lift the engine a few inches for the pan inards to clear the pump pickup. You can do this by unbolting the engine mounts and jacking up the engine on the nose of the crankshaft. Yes, this is perfectly safe. If you're not comfortable with doing this, then you'll need an engine lift. You do not need to remove the harmonic balancer or crank hub. Seal the new gasket with some spray gasket sealant. Get a good razor blade scraper and some gasket remover spray. The old paper gaskets can stick to the block like crazy. If you have a choice between paper versus cork, buy paper--lasts longer.Call bimmerworld (540-639-9648 9a to 6p Eastern) for all the parts necessary. I think they have a 535i oil pan. Their prices on new parts beat anyone else out there.
