The e32/34 (540i) brake rotors do a far superior job in dissipating heat, which is attributed to the improved design. The e28 M5 rotors tend to warp around 60k, my rear rotors have warped at just 36k. I am currently considering the modification. The e32/34 (540) rotors are a direct bolt on. There is a great deal of information regarding this modification available in the archives.
