'88 535is Dinan Turbo Final Edition
I would like to know how to tell if this car is a real Dinan turbo model (if there is such a thing)? Are they worth more than a regular one ? I have found one for sale for 13,500.00 w/100K on the car and 50K on the rebuilt engine w/all upgrades including the crank and intercooler by Dinan. It has 17" wheels, upgraded brakes and suspension. This third owner has most of the receipts. The car did have a complete re-paint including color change to dark green metalic. The receipt for this was 9K aprox. seven years ago. Would this lessen the value? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff.
I bet you'd be hard pressed for someone to pay $10K or more for a used turbo system (even if it's for a 88' M5).
I see standard Dinan E28 turbos for sale under $10K often enough. Since you can buy a nice 535is for < $6K --that means the turbo adds about $4K value to the car. Which seems fairly reasonable since it's almost doubling the price of the car.....
A used M5 turbo system on ebay might bring $6-$8K? It would be interesting to see.....
So what's a reasonable selling price for a M5 turbo? Me thinks $12-14K (for a nice stock car) and add $4-6K for all the Dinan stuff.
I seem to remember a M6 Dinan turbo (24K mi) that had been posted numerous times recently for sale on (bimmer.org) for $22K. It's been for sale at least 1 year with no takers........ Maybe the price is a bit high? What with soooo many other cars in that price range to choose from.
