I am considering buying an 86 M5 for $10,000 with 207,000km on the clock. My question is, in Australia is the car I am looking at really an M5, a 535i Motorsport or are they both the same. The reason I ask is that the engine does not have a black alloy valve cover with M POWER on it, the compliance plate does say M5.Did Australia get a different version to the U.S Also what should I look for if I decide to buy. TIA

Sounds like IT IS NOT A M5 if the tacho has
a economy meter instead of a //M logo at the bottom it is not.
The engine should be all black with M POWER on the top.If it is auto it is not a M5.
Sound like somebody is a dreamer trying to put one over you !
