Cutting out after a couple of miles. Engine would turn over but not restart for 1 to 5 minutes. If I tapped (hard) the DME it would instantly fire up and be OK.
You may be able to cure it by checking for bad soldered joints on the boards. I resoldered the dodgy looking joints but it didn't make any difference, so I ran the car with the cover off the DME and it hanging down in the glove box for a couple of weeks (be careful). When the engine cut out, I would gently tap the boards with a plastic pen until I found the area that made the engine restart, then resoldered everything in that area. Not had a problem since.
I did this as a last resort before getting a new DME, thinking that at best I could sort the problem and save lots of hard earned, at worst (if it stopped completely) I would'nt be any worse off by getting a new DME.
I hope this helps.
Good luck
