The car world is fickle. I'd say that very good/excellent condition E28 M5s will probably fetch anywhere from $15k to $20k (today's money) in the next 20 years. If you're thinking about "investing" in one, the only gains you'll see would be the perma-grin stuck to your face after driving it.

They're only getting more rare. My guess is that there are still several hundred out there. Look in the Roundel and on AutoTrader.com. They seem to be everywhere! Most people are asking $13k-$16k, some dogs are $7k-9k, some creampuffs are $18k-$22k!!

Mine was in very good/excellent condition, and I paid just over $12k from an independent dealer desperate to unload his cars.
