I bought my car with less than 90k on it, it now has 200K. I've had to rebuild the tranny, $3000, to replace the clutch, $1500, to work on the self leveling system, $450, to work on the front end (struts and thrust bushings)$400 and rebuild the rear suspension (new rubber bushing) $800. I look at it this way, no other car short of a good used M3 will run with it. A used M3 (E36) will set me back at $20-25000. My M5 is paid for. I can afford to fix it cheaper than finding an acceptable replacement. Plus I enjoy driving a 13 year old car that is stealth and can blow most other cars off the road.
