What are the primary differences between the 1988 S38 and 1989-1992 E34 S38? I know the intkae plenum looks different, but what about cams, valves, crank, bore, stroke, compression, etc. I've seen Eric Christie's webpage on his Euro 3.8L M5 rebuild fiasco, and I noticed that the dreaded crank hub has been replaced by a newer design. It is held on with 4 very large bolts, so loosening/bearking from vibration is eliminated. Is this common to all E34 M5 engines, US and Euro? It would be a nice upgrade for E28 M5 owners--install an E34 M5 engine, or install just the crank/pistons if the blocks are close enough.

Anyone know?

Thanks!
