I just had a new starter put into the M5 and in the process got better throttle response and a smoother flow of power. As I understand it, the intake has to be removed to replace the starter, and there was some buildup around the throttle bodies that was cleaned out. The end result is a car that not only starts everytime but is considerably more fun to drive.
So even if you don't need a starter (and I hope you don't) you may want someone to have a look around the throttle bodies...
