Heh.

I rebuilt a Porsche 924 myself, (overbore'd and everything). It kicked ass for 6 months until I totaled it. Doh.

That's one reason why I will NEVER rebuild a motor again. Can I do it? Absolutely. _WILL_ I do it? Never in hell. ;-)

I'm really thinking of going with Metric Mechanic's 3.7 liter rebuild and calling it a day. Installed, it'll be 10 bills. My mechanic (Harold at Bavarian Motorsports) ALSO has a Euro M5 motor, so we can actually have that one rebuilt, while I continue to drive the car. (Yet another reason I don't wanna do a rebuild myself is that this car is my daily driver). Then we can just swap motors. Matching serials numbers? We don't need no STINKIN' matchin' serial numbers!
:-))

Thanks for all the info.

Cool. Let us know what your final decision is and how the engine turns out. I guess that will be a while? I assumed that you have a second car (doesn't everyone with an M5 have a second car?!?), which is why I suggested you rebuild your own.

How's you tranny doing? I'd guess you'll need a rebuild soon after you install a MM engine!

A 924 kicked ass? That's funny! ;-) (Just kidding)
