Guys need some input...recently purchased a new lightened flywheel (metric mechanic) for my '86 535i (thanks Jerry).
I'm being told by my mechanic friend that I will lose all of the low end torque of the motor if I install this.....This car is my daily driver that will see as many track events as possible in the summer time, and it will slowly become strictly a driver school car over the next few years. I'm looking for some solid input from you guys who have installed a lightened flywheel in the E28...........Gimme some feedback please....
Thanks in advance

The only real disadvantage to a lightened flywheel is that you may have to slip the clutch a little more to get started in 1st gear, due to the reduction in mass and therefore inertia in the rotating assembly. It has no direct effect on torque output. If you don't do a lot of stop-and-go city driving, it probably won't bother you.
