This is not a bad idea. In fact it was a nice white 535is that lives near me that re-ignited the whole M5 question. So what will a cam and exhaust do for the 535is? Can you chip them?

Consider an 87 or 88 535is. You can pick up a NICE example with low 100k miles for 7k. Do a few nice mods, and you're driving the M5's little brother that looks just like it. I had one, it's a nice car and less to maintain. Let's face it, not everyone can drive his dream car. Just an alternate idea.
