I am new here, but by no means new to BMWs or the myriad of problems, and hours of fun derived from owning them. Brother to the infamous JamesM, I picked up my E28 M5 the same day he did. No doubt you are all impressed by the fountain of useless (but occasionally helpful) knowledge that is my bother, I mean brother. Anyhow, in his absence, feel free to contact yours truly for any random problems or questions you might have- i don't always agree with him on the solutions to common problems, or that you have to have buckets of tools to do a job (I once had to tear apart a motorcycle with the stock tool kit,) but having the right tool does help (especially if you don't like scraped knuckles.) If anyone needs any info on a fuel pump swap, my bro gave me the background and I replaced the pump in an 89 325i. The Mustang pump works much better than stock. Here's where I shut up and say goodbye.
