This task is best done from under the engine. Put a drain pan under the filter cannister. Loosen the little nipple to drain the cannister. Then remove the through-bolt and lower the cannister. No problemo.


I have owned my M5 for 3 months now and havent changed the oil filter. How do I do it with out spilling the oil all over the place. It looks like its in an unusual angle, so any insight would be much appreciated.
