Will the E34 brakes fit inside the stock 16" E28 M5 wheels ?

If this is a no-brainer upgrade, and i can keep my current wheels, i might do it. My rear brakes are probably getting close to needing a little work.

I was wondering if any of you have undergone a 540/e34 M5 rear brake conversion on your e28 ///M5? I currently have stock brakes, but I seem to be going through front rotors rather quickly ( I get about 12k each pair?) I have heard that the adding the e34 rear brakes would help with the braking balance. Also, do any of you use any specific rotors in the front? I was thinking of a cross-drilled or slotted set to hopefully keep them a little cooler and warp free...... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
