The shared differentials listed should not include the e28 M5. Only e34 M5, 540, e32 750 and e31 850 diffs can be interchanged by changing output shafts and flanges. An e28 M5 diff does not interchange with these.

Hi , I come in peace as a fellow BMW owner. I am wanting to put 4.10 gears in my 850ci. All M5s(e28)(e34) 540s 750s and 850s share the same size diff. Most of the 8 guys own 6spd, so they havent needed gears as low as 4.10. I have an auto.
I need to know if anyone who reads this board has put 4.10 in an M5(e28). Korman lists them on his website, but I havent yet been able to contact him. Any information on whereabouts of 4.10 gears, who makes or sells them etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim.

I would suggest the 3:91:1 ratio. It is the more common gear set for the 87-92 M5 & M6's. The 3.73:1 was the next diff ratio in the 92 & 93, M5.
The 4:10:1 ratio was used on the older cars with an automatic.
