Maintenance Prices and Problems...Need Advice (archive)

My E30 M3 just got T-boned last week and is totalled unfortunately. I loved it very much, but think I could deal with getting an E28 M5 since the prices are similar, and I think it's pretty cool.

What is the maintenance like on one of these. Is it real expensive or will it not be too different from my M3? Any advice any of you might have would be very helpful. Thanks in advance
