I'd also try reducing toe by installing the inner mount forward and up. This will decrease rear toe, which wears out the inner tread very quickly when combined with lots of camber and wide tires. Decreasing negative camber may limit the max tire width you can run. Chris at Curry's Auto in Chantilly, VA runs an E28 M5 at Summit Point all the time. He has 245/45/16 Hoosier tires on stock BBS wheels. He runs BS HDs, but I don't know what springs. I think he uses 535i/is rear springs. You can fit 245/40/17 or even 255/40/17.
With the BS Sports, you can raise the rear ride height. This will also counteract the suspension's natural tendency to add toe and negative camber when the wheel goes up (compression). I have stock 535i rear springs on BS HDs set all the way up, and I have no rear tire wear problems, yet.
