Put it this way. Rob did not market the car very heavily. He just sold it. Everyone here has a tremendous amount of respect for Rob, his knowledge of BMWs, and the car that he lavished considerable thought, attention, and money on. But Rob was matter of fact about the car, and given the fact that he had built it, it was "Rob's Car".
But then you come out of the gate and play his car up to be the Second Coming. It's just a damn car, and it ain't worth over $25k except to a very small club of people who value the specific combination of attributes of the car. I only hope for your sake (or rather your bank account's sake) that you are not in a club of one. It may be a very long time before you sell the car for anything approaching what you are expecting.
Okay, here's the deal. For the most part, I have gotten nothing but rude, and extremely inappropriate follow-up posts to my posts regarding the Dinan Turbo e28 M5 that I have been trying to sell. It's amazing how little respect some of you have shown me. Some of you have been very supportive, but most of you that have posted in regards to my selling the car have been incredibly rude, to say the least. It's apparent to me that the people who have left such posts are not aware of the value of the car I'm trying to sell. This is the e28 M5 board, you'd think that the people who frequent this board would know about, REALLY know about, the ONLY black-on-black 3.8 Dinan Turbo e28 M5 in existence. Weird. I feel like I'm some hack who's trying to sell some average car for far too much money. THIS IS NOT THE CASE, and of all the people who should know that, it should be the people on this board. I can only imagine how Rob Levinson must feel having been the previous owner of the car, to know that so many people on this board have questioned a car that HE sold to me. Rob Levinson is a very well respected person in the BMW community, so this kind of disrespect not only affects me, but it affects him, as well. This kind of behavior is totally uncalled for, and very rude, to say the least. This is a legitimate car, being sold by a legitimate person, so PLEASE show some respect. If you're interested in the car, then ask about it, if not, then please, just ignore my posts. Thanks.
Regards,
Jason.
"Waa waaa, people aren't throwing money at me." It sounds to me like you're just trying to make a profit. You've had this car for less than a year? I don't like people who buy cars only to sell them again for a steeper price just because, and this is usually true, there's always some weirdo who will buy it. This is why you see awesome cars with low miles and like 10 owners and high ass prices. Guess what? It works both ways. Patient buyers know that there will always be a reasonable seller out there with a beautiful car. So, someone might buy it, but don't expect to get any respect from members of this board who generally are bmw enthusiasts and well educated when it comes to buying old bimmers.
