Rear SLS advice (archive)

So heres some more cute news. I had let the car sit for about a month before driving it to the mech today, and once he put it up on the lift, the rear left shock started fizzing green bubbly fluid.

Doh.

My SLS has been saggy/inoperative since shortly after i bought the car. It was very weird to see evidence that it still existed today in the form of a large amount of leaked fluid.

I like the novel idea of rear SLS, but honestly all it ever does is break. I've got less than 1cm of tire clearance on the rears, and i dont mean top of tire to bottom of fender lip - the tires are up so high that the tops aren't at all visible - i mean between _side of tire_ and fender lip.

So im thinking about removing the rear SLS. Whats a good setup for the rear ? This is a recreational driver that someday if it ever gets sorted out will see more drivers schools (its seen one and did _Very_ admirably).

If i fix enough it will be a daily driver, and it looks like i've got a slightly bent front rim from these fucking WA roads so im not looking for something that will shake my teeth out. On the other hand, its an ///M car and i fully expect it to handle like one.

Suggestions ? Suggestions for the price sensitive ? (ha ha - a price sensitive ///M5 owner ... stop your laughing :)
