Hello Friends,
I am the proud owner of a 1987 BMW 535is. It is all stock and has a new head from BMW. It idles smoothly and pulls hard right into redline. How much better is the M5 over this car? Torque on the 535is isn't shabby. I know HP on the M5 is superior over the 12 valve counterpart. The M5 from what I understand needs constant TLC. I just wanted some input from the M5 crowd. Your Thoughts??

I have had an M6- not an M5 for- for over 3 years. Great car. Pulls like a freight train. Nice looks. BBS wheels- SO2 tires. Pulls like a freight train. But its somewhat heavy and sluggish.
Recently I picked up a 1988 535i- 1 owner 60K miles. Pretty car but kind of invisible- metallic blue with blue interior.
But as you know these cars are very light on their feet- with good all around power- very responsive handling and balance.
I have found that I enjoy the balance of the 535 more than the additional power of the M6.
