The stock M5 wheel size is 16x7.5, complete with 225/50x16 tyres. 225/50x16 has a dia of 631mm. To keep close to this same dia on 17's, you'll need 225/45x17 (dia = 634mm). All the top manufacturers make this size.

regards - prc.
1986 M535i (16x7.5 with 225/50 Avon ZZ1's)

i have ordered a set of rims (17x7.7) with an offset of 20mm. What tire size should i get maintaining the stock tire size(225) and i am planning to add springs to lower it in the future.(about 1"-1.5").

thanks
