rough idle after adding oil (archive)

The oil light came on and I added 1 quart of mobil 1. Car barely ran 2 hours later. Started right away, but idle would go up and down between 400 and 800 rpms. Cleaned the plugs and it got better and ran it hard to burn things up. Runs well when driving, but when it returns to idle it goes up and down once and then settles. Any ideas? Thanks.
