Thermo time sw.
Temp sensor
TPS
Changed plugs
Checked wires
Checked primary and secondary coil resistance
All are within spec.
Starting to suspect control unit. Don't know how to test w/o replacing. Car has JC chip. Does it make sense to put back factory chip as yet another test. Possible trip to dealer may be warranted here. Still would welcome suggestions as to what I may have missed. TIA
Mark
It seems that after it goes into closed loop thats where the problem begins? Check the cool temp switches as well as vac leaks. Pull on some hosses as well as intake boots for cracks. Check o2 output. Good luck get back to us.
Need help!
88 M5 starts cold, runs fair, after about 1 min it either smoothes out or stops dead. This problem has gotten worse over past 2 weeks. I was thinking fuel pump was on the way out, but this was wrong ($113 bad diagnosis by lazy mechanic who did not check fuel pressure after car stalled (me!)) Anyway, tonight I will dig into this... Have tools and lots of experience, but I would appreciate some advice from anyone who has experienced same. TIA, Mark
