Quick update... Problem getting worse. Root cause is spark goes away w/increasing temp (@coil wire...need to still check primary side when fault occurs). I've checked the following:

Thermo time sw.
Temp sensor
TPS
Changed plugs
Checked wires
Checked primary and secondary coil resistance

All are within spec.

Starting to suspect control unit. Don't know how to test w/o replacing. Car has JC chip. Does it make sense to put back factory chip as yet another test. Possible trip to dealer may be warranted here. Still would welcome suggestions as to what I may have missed. TIA

Did you replace the main relay? Its cheap.

The only way to test the DME brain yourself is to find someone to loan you their unit.

Malcolm

Malcolm,

Yes I did. (It was getting screamin hot and I finally figured thats all it could be. Just did this 5 min. ago, havn't had chance to test. I am assuming DME must be unit from M5, not std. 5 series.
