Checked the ETK and the steering pump is unique to the s-38 engine. Looked at the 535i pump and it said 110bar pressure. The M5 is 120bar. Not sure what other differences there are. Check your yellow pages to see if you have anyone in your area that can rebuild pumps, they would know whether it can be or not.


My e28 M5 power steering pump has a leak. Can this be rebuilt? Alternately, can a regular e28 535 ps pump be substituted? Anyone know the difference? If you have a good used one available, please let me know as well. Thanks, Samir.
