Please report back on the results if you go with the Random Technology cats. I may be interested in the same at some point in the not too distant future.

So i took a ride in an E28 M5 with the factory exhaust the other day and god does it sound good.

So I'm more motivated than ever to put a good exhaust system on the car (the one i've got now is entirely too loud _and_ restrictive - its the worst of everythng)

So i got off the phone with Random technology, (apparently a great source for cheap hiflowing cats) and they dont have a 2in 2 out peice, but they do say they have a guy that makes staggered single setups for dual pipe BMWs. Since they'll give me a 1-in 1-out @ 2.25" dia (internal) for $169 list, two of these is a very high flowing solution for not a lot of money (compared to a $1500 M5 cat :)

The issue is, where do i get a muffler ? IIRC, the muffler to fit the rear end is $700 or so. I want at a minimum a dual 2" muffler, and a dual 2.25 (as per Rob's m5 exhaust page) would be ideal.

Anyone have any suggestions ? Anyone have some stock M5 exhaust peices in good shape ?
