Do not part it out. You would be hard pressed to get over 10k or near it. Yea the engines are advertised for that price, but how many of those sell? Say you get 5k, then the trans about 1k. 6k total. You may be able to pull it off, but it is a pain in the butt. I would just keep trying to sell it. Times are tough now and everyone wants something for nothing. If it was a regular 5 I would say part it out, but these cars are to rare. just my $.02

My 88 M5 runs great but I have had no luck trying to sell it. Everything is original. Should I sell it for parts? I have seen where the engine might sell from 5 to $8k but after I sell the engine how would I sell the transmission? I hate to kill such a wonderfully driving car but I had it advertised on auto trader for two months. I got FIFTEEN! responses but nobody would come test drive the car! I was asking 13,200 for it but do not know what I could get for it if someone would see how great it drives. I have room to store the car while I part it out. I just do not want to sell the whole car for $10k when I could get more for the parts. The car has always lived in Alabama. It has never been raced or autocrossed.
