E39 Wheel Fitment to E28 M5 ? (archive)

Does anyone know if you can fit on the 17" 540i sport or 18" M5 wheels onto our E28 M5s? If so, do you need to run spacers (what size)? What size rubber should you shod these wheels in to avoid rubbing? Thanks for any answers.
