I was told 5mm hubcentric spacers are required on the front only. Is this correct?

Thanks!

E39 wheels (including styles : 19, 5, 32, 66M, 42) are becoming more and more popular on the E28, most notably the E39 540i radial spoke sport wheel (Style 32) Part No. 85 32 9 409 884 and the 528i Cross spoke bolted, composite wheel (Styling 5) Part No. 85 32 9 409 934. However to install the BMW E39 sport style wheels on an e28 chassis hubcentric rings are needed as the centerbores are different. The E39 chassis has a centerbone measurement of 74 while the e28 has a center bone measurement of 72.5 The E39 sport style wheels look great on the E28. The recommended tire fittment for the E39 Sport style wheels is 235/45R17W. You may consult with the TireRack to obtain the optimal tire fitting information for the E28.

In regards to the E39 M5 road wheel Part No. 36 11 2 228 950/ 960 they will not fit on the E28 without modification and the wheels would not be hub-centric. This would cause vibration and the sizes will be much to wide for the E28. The E39 M5 road wheel is simply too large for the E28 and not compatible with the E28.
